Close Combat Training Techniques

Close combat ranges are the fundamentals of training. It may be close, mid or long range. The techniques available in combat may be utilized by the parts of the body as weapons and target vulnerable areas of the body of your opponents. During close combat, fists can be mixed up with palms, elbows, forearms, knees and legs as weapons. Different attacks can be best complemented by hitting the body that may produce maximum damage. The head specifically the eyes, nose, temple, and jaw are point of attacks that may produce huge amount of damage to the opponent. The front portion of the neck is also susceptible to any attacks since damage in this area cause exhaustion which may lead to death. Chest, ribs, kidneys, liver are also parts that are susceptible to damages.

Another way to have a good close combat technique is the stance. A good stance includes stability and movement that is needed to execute close combat techniques. In order to have this, feet should be apart, hands up, elbows in, and chin down. Head movements and feet agility are good defense. The last situation in a close combat is putting the opponent to the ground, thus a strong sense of balance is vital. To avoid falling on the ground, feet should be shoulder-width apart with only the toes touching the ground to allow quick movements. If falling to the ground cannot be avoided, a technique can be used to avoid any damage to your body, like using your palms as shield before you hit the ground. Your palms will hit the ground first before your body. Falling sideways or backwards is best avoided if you cross your arms touching your chest and then, tuck touching your chest and then, tuck your chin. At that point, you will be able to protect your chest from the impact thus, prevent any damage.
